9.6. Defining InfoPath Views

InfoPath allows you to define multiple views in the same form against different subsets of the data. Views can serve multiple purposes including the following:

  • You have a very large form and decide to divide it into smaller pages to make it more manageable to those entering data.

  • You have a workflow attached to the form and the approver needs read-only access to most of the fields, with perhaps the ability to update a comment field and to accept or reject the form.

  • You have different people who work on different sections of the form, and they only need to see the part of the form they are responsible for.

  • You have different people who have access to the form, but who do not need to see all the data in the form. Perhaps ...
