Understanding Agile Planning

Agile does involve planning, even though it is adaptive and incremental. Some may observe agile processes and view them as unplanned and even chaotic. This negative perception is usually far from the truth. It is true that agile plans are evolving and responding to requests for changes.

In an agile environment, typically, the most complex and challenging tasks are worked on first. At any time, task priorities may change and shift. In an agile environment, teams create a work backlog, which is a prioritized task list. Short, simple descriptions called user stories are the most common approach to expressing user needs.
