Advanced CAR

Chapter 1 explains that computer-assisted reporting (CAR) can be used at different levels, from the basic to the advanced or investigative. This chapter is about how to use advanced CAR—information-finding and interpreting techniques using statistics and databases. The methods discussed in the following pages should be used in conjunction with the online approaches highlighted in previous chapters and also with traditional journalistic procedures such as interviews.
