Crafting Your Strategy
In the early chapters in this book, I show you how to create a solid online strategy that can support you and protect you during an online crisis. If you have gone through those chapters and created your online reputation management foundation, please just take a second to refresh yourself with the main steps below. If you haven’t had the opportunity to build your teams and formulate your strategies, it isn’t too late. Just use your best judgment as you read through this process and apply where necessary.
1. Alert your everyday team.
2. Review your nightmare scenarios and solutions.
3. Call in your crisis team.
4. Bring in your executive team.
Factor in the following considerations for your team:
Make sure you have adequate coverage for your everyday team. If somebody’s out sick or on vacation. Call in backup if necessary.
Make sure everyone at your brand shares the latest info so that your messaging is accurate and consistent.
Get the best out of your social media team during a crisis: Exercise patience, kindness, and lead decisively.
