Evolutionary Dynamics in Twitter Ego Networks
Abstract
In this chapter, we report an analysis on the dynamic evolution of Twitter ego networks over time. We have been able to perform this analysis thanks to the accurate temporal information contained in the Twitter dataset that we have collected. These data allowed us to create a time series for each ego network, and to study how the size and the composition of each ego network layer evolved over time. This analysis extends and completes the findings on the structure of ego networks in Twitter and Facebook, by giving a clearer view of the dynamics of ego network graphs in online environments.
