Abstract

The rapid evolution and widespread adoption of online social networking platforms have transformed the way individuals communicate, share information, and connect with others. As these platforms continue to grow in popularity, issues surrounding their security and the emergence of potential threats have become increasingly prominent. This paper discusses the current state of security in today’s online social networking platforms, identifying and analyzing the various threats that users may encounter. The study begins by examining the fundamental security measures implemented by popular social networking platforms and assessing their effectiveness in safeguarding user data and privacy. Additionally, it delves into the diverse range of potential threats, including but not limited to privacy breaches, identity theft, cyberbullying, misinformation, and phishing attacks. The paper highlights the sophisticated methods employed by malicious actors to exploit vulnerabilities within these platforms and compromise user accounts and sensitive information.
