Hard Disks
We're going to cover hard drive basics, such as the interfaces, hard disk jargon, and RAID. We won't be covering low-voltage differential (LVD) and other very high-end technology because it's doubtful you'll want or need that kind of hardware. (However, more information about LVD is available at www.adaptec.com and www.seagate.com.)
The two most common hard drive interfaces are IDE and SCSI.

Integrated Drive Electronics is a standard electronic interface used between a computer motherboard's data paths or bus and the computer's disk storage devices.
