Home Networks for Dialup

If you have dialup Internet service, you are limited to connection speeds of 28–56 Kbps. With such limited bandwidth, your options for sharing your Internet connection across your home are limited both by bandwidth and available technology. On the bandwidth side, sharing a 28-Kbps connection would, in essence, provide two users on a home network with only 14 Kbps, which is a step in the wrong direction for most. Accordingly, in a dialup context, most people will want to think of a home network as a means by which files and printers can be shared between computers. In this model, each PC has its own adapter and, depending on the adapter types, connects to the other computers through a hub or switch.
