GOVERNMENT OPEN DATA HAS THE POTENTIAL TO INCREASE public knowledge, empower citizens, and build American businesses. In recent years, business innovation has been a major driver for the federal government’s Open Data initiatives. The U.S. government may turn out to be the largest single source of free Open Data in the world. Its business potential is just starting to be realized, and it’s fueling a wave of startups that’s beginning to build.
