AUTHOR’S NOTE: FOR THIS GLOSSARY, I’VE DRAWN ON A NUMBER of sources listed in the Selected Bibliography and some additional ones cited here. In several cases, I’ve drawn on multiple sources to define terms in my own words. My goal has not been to give the most technically precise definition possible or to reconcile all the various definitions of every term, but to give readers a basic understanding that will help demystify the world of Open Data.
