Utopia Documents: transforming how industrial scientists interact with the scientific literature

Steve Pettifer, Terri Attwood, James Marsh and Dave Thorne

Abstract:

The number of articles published in the scientific literature continues to grow at an alarming rate, making it increasingly difficult for researchers to find key facts. Although electronic publications and libraries make it relatively easy to access articles, working out which ones are important, how their content relates to the growing number of online databases and resources, and making this information easily available to colleagues remains challenging. We present Utopia Documents, a visualization tool that provides a fresh perspective on the scientific literature.
