When Wipro purchased Appirio in 2016, the goal of then-CEO Abidali Z. Neemuchwala was to create one of the world’s largest cloud transformation practices, a game changer in today’s economy. Appirio came with a little-known subsidiary, Topcoder, an open talent platform with more than 1.5 million members and which had hosted some twenty-five thousand contests for clients like Wellmark, T-Mobile, and NASA.
