We decided to write this book to address the absence of accessible texts for business managers and management students addressing the significant structural changes in the global economy and the ever more important necessity of thinking about business strategies with an understanding of emerging markets. Since the mid 2000s, the world has been changing at a dramatic speed, with Europe precipitating a dramatic crisis, the U.S. struggling to recover from the effects of the recession started in 2008, and Japan continuing in its now decades-long stagnation.
