Mutual funds remain arguably the most familiar of investment vehicles that provide to small and large investors alike the ability to assemble broadly diversified portfolios by way of single transactions in as few as one investment vehicle. Mutual funds also enable investors to invest in diverse groups of various bonds/stocks that represent limited- or single-sector portfolios of stocks segregated by capitalization (for example, small cap), geography (single- or multi-country companies), industry (for instance, health, energy), and other categories into which investments might be classified.
