Advanced Topics

This chapter describes some of the advanced topics not covered throughout this book. Because of the diverse applications of optical sciences, it is simply not possible to cover all of them in one chapter, but the reader is encouraged to search other topics of interest. Good places to start are trade journals and magazines published by optics organizations (e.g., The Optical Society, www.osa.org; SPIE, www.spie.org; and IEEE Photonics Society, www.photonicssociety.org), as well as symposia organized by these societies.
