Abstract

Nonpowered industrial truck selection plays an important role in material handling in a small-scale manufacturing organization. In order to meeting the lowcost and high-productivity target fulfillment, decision makers need to analyze the performance of different nonpowered industrial truck as material handling device to determine appropriate equipment with accurate functionalities. Suitable nonpowered industrial truck selection for a particular material handling intention is one of the critical tasks for the decision makers. This chapter exploits fuzzy VIKOR (multi criteria optimization compromise solution) for nonpowered industrial truck selection considering multiple conflicting criteria. Subjective judgment of weight of criteria and performance rating of alternatives is accomplished based on experience, perception, and opinion of experts/decision makers involved in the process. Normalization is carried out to restrict the magnitude and sense of ratings of alternatives. Weights of criteria are combined with normalized rating to calculate S, R, and Q values, which give ranking order of the alternatives. A suitable example on nonpowered industrial truck selection is illustrated using the present approach, which establishes the applicability ...
