Fiber Bragg Grating Strain Sensor for Microstructure in Situ Strain Measurement and Real-Time Failure Detection

Abstract

A novel reliability test methodology is proposed, which applies fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensors to detect flexure-induced pad cratering fractures in advanced microprocessor assemblies. Failure detection and reliability evaluation for such small-scale structures are of common interest and key concerns for both manufacturers and users.
