Aerospace Applications of Optical Fiber Mechanical Sensors

Owing to their light weight, immunity to electromagnetic interference, ease of multiplexing, lack of drift, and high level of maturity, optical fiber sensors would seem to be ideal for aerospace applications. However, the aerospace industry has been slow in adopting this technology, and this review suggests many of the reasons for this.
