Photonic bandgap fibers—a roadway to all-fiber refractometer systems for monitoring of liquid analytes

Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally that an all-fiber refractometer system could be developed using a combination of the hollow and solid-core photonic bandgap Bragg fibers. Particularly, the proposed refractometer system consists of two parts: a liquid-core Bragg fiber for holding and probing test analytes and a solid-core Bragg fiber-bundle spectrometer for interrogating the transmission spectrum.
