B.1 SRVCTL – Server Control

In this section let’s look at the Server Control (SRVCTL) commands provided by Oracle to manage the clustered databases from the command line. The SRVCTL command-line utility has been enhanced from its previous releases to support additional functionality offered by Oracle Database 10g.

The command is divided into three parts: part 1 is the actual operation to be performed, part 2 is the object that is being operated on, and part 3 is a set of optional parameters that help streamline the operation.

Usage: srvctl <command> <object> [<options>]

The supported object types are
