Chapter 10. MAA and More

In Chapter 6 we discussed the various features of Oracle Database 10g RAC, that provide high availability within the boundaries of the configured cluster. We discussed how this cluster shares one single copy of the physical database, allowing users connected to any instance participating in the cluster to access the data from this one common database. While RAC does provide availability between the various instances participating in the cluster, Oracle Corporation can never guarantee that this one cluster will not be a single point of failure as some disasters and errors are beyond Oracle’s control.
