CHAPTER 8ASM Command-Line
There are many ways to manage and access ASM and its components. Two typical methods are using SQLPlus and using Enterprise Manager (EM) Database Control or Grid Control. A third method leverages the ASMCMD command-line utility, which provides short commands that have the same functionality as their SQL equivalents. This method obviates the need to build complex SQL statements to query ASM information. The ASMCMD syntax is very similar to Unix/Linux shell commands, thus simplifying ASM management for those administrators not accustomed to the SQLPlus interface or SQL coding.
