Active Session History
Active Session History (ASH) is absolutely new in Oracle Database 10g. Very simply, it is both the recording and retention—short and long term—of crucial session-state information. The reasoning behind the provisioning of this very interesting data is to allow the performance analyst to perform on-the-spot analysis of a current session as well as to be able to look at the overall breakdown of session-related information in the short term.
