New Optimizer Improvements
The Cost Based Optimizer is at the heart of the Oracle kernel and plays a large part in the efficient execution of SQL statements in Oracle Database 10g. This is a very complex and involved topic; at the very least, however, you need to know about some of the new features in the optimizer that is now available in Oracle Database 10g. This chapter discusses the most important set of changes, along with some conceptual information that will help you keep your database running efficiently.
