General Improvements with Oracle 10g Data Guard
The new features of Oracle 10g Data Guard were developed with the following goals in mind:

Improved manageability and flexibility
Improved degree of high availability
Tight integration of other 10g high-availability features such as Flashback
Low infrastructure cost
