CHAPTER 11Conversion and Transformation Functions
This chapter looks at functions that convert, or transform, one datatype into another. Four major datatypes and their associated functions have been covered thus far:
CHAR (fixed-length character strings) and VARCHAR2 (variable-length character strings) include any letter of the alphabet, any number, and any of the symbols on the keyboard. Character literals must be enclosed in single quotation marks:
