It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Sync and split technology is an example of an innovative (and challenging) solution for storage recovery. Although sync and split technology was available when Oracle9i RMAN Backup & Recovery was published in 2002, it was not given coverage because it wasn’t widely adopted at that point. Since then, sync and split has become a widely used technology to provide immediate and very fast system recovery at the storage hardware level.
