I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
SQL Command-Line Interface
The SQL*Plus command-line interface requires that you have an account on the server or that you install Oracle client software on your local machine. The command-line tool requires a thick-client connection to build a socket between a client and server. The interactive SQL*Plus interface is provided by the Oracle client software.
You can access the SQL*Plus application directly when you are working on the same machine as the Oracle database. If you are working on a Linux machine, you will need to put the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory in your environment path and set several other environment variables.
