Starting and Stopping Instances

An Oracle instance can be started automatically at system boot time. In an Oracle RAC environment, you need to ensure that the cluster software is started before database instances can be started. Starting with Oracle Database 10g R1, DBCA configures database instances to be started automatically by Cluster Ready Services (CRS) at system boot time.

Using srvctl to Start/Stop Instance(s)

The srvctl command is a convenient and highly recommended way to start/stop multiple instances in an Oracle RAC environment. Use the following command to start all instances associated with a database:
