Understanding Services
Services are used to manage the workload in an Oracle RAC environment. They provide a logical approach to group a workload so that users employing the same set of data, functionalities, and service-level requirements can be grouped together to use the same services. For example, an online transaction processing (OLTP) service can be defined for the users who execute small, short-lived transactions; a BATCH service can be defined for users executing long-running batch transactions; a data warehousing (DW) service can be defined for users using data warehousing features; and so on.
