Key Components in Cache Fusion
The following sections cover a few terms and concepts used in the discussion of Cache Fusion. In simple terms, every resource in the global cache (such as data blocks, index blocks, and undo blocks) has potentially handled up to three parties. At startup, the simple hashing algorithm divides the management role of the resources into available instances. Each instance controls the access to the resources, and their role is resource “master” for the resources. Any instance that has acquired the permission (to read or modify) is the current “owner” of the resource. Someone else requesting access on that resource can be a “requestor” of that resource.
