Backup, Recovery, and Data Guard New Features
Perhaps the foremost job of the DBA is to make sure that the database is always backed up and that the corresponding backups are recoverable. Reporting and OLTP applications are useless without their data. Without backups, it only takes the loss of a disk, or some other disaster, for all that data to be lost.
