Adding and Removing Cluster Nodes
Oracle RAC is a highly scalable solution that allows users to add/remove nodes on demand in the existing cluster without affecting the availability of the active database services. Nodes should be homogenous and should have the same computing capacity. Though adding a node with a higher or lower capacity than the other members of the cluster is technically possible, it’s usually not recommended because it creates a logical imbalance between the nodes.
