RMAN New Features
Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) has been an integral part of Oracle Database since version 10g. Previous to Oracle Database 10g, you had to use manual backup methods such as OS file copies that didn’t have the numerous recoverability and ease of maintenance options that RMAN does. Oracle Database 12c Release 2 offers several significant enhancements to RMAN, including a couple that directly support other new features such as multitenant pluggable database (PDB) archive files.
