Database Workload Replay

The previous chapter discussed the various methods that any Oracle DBA can leverage to capture an application workload with Database Workload Capture (DWC). Now that we’ve explained that process in sufficient detail, it’s time to turn our attention to the whole reason for capturing a workload from a production source: leveraging the power of Database Workload Replay (DWR) to play back the captured workload against a new database environment to satisfy one or more of the scenarios identified in the introduction to Chapter 11.
