One downfall of traditional web and AJAX applications is forcing the user to always start at the same location after they have logged in. In doing so the engineer and programmer decide what is most important for the user to see and what the initial state of the application is. Often this is done because it is believed that the users must always have the same experience with the application or be greeted by fluff such as seeing their name and some welcome message.
