File and Tablespace Management
Starting in Oracle 8i, but especially in Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g, Oracle provides a number of tablespace and file management options that the DBA can take advantage of to automate space management. While not all options are ideally suited for all environments, the judicious use of the ones that are appropriate, especially in Oracle 10g, can significantly reduce the amount of time and attention the DBA needs to spend on space management.
