After presenting an overview of the Grid Control architecture in Chapter 1, Chapters 2 through 4 discuss installation of the Management Repository and one or more Management Services (each with a chain-installed Agent). What remains is to deploy standalone Management Agents on hosts you want to monitor. Standalone Agents are the last required piece of the infrastructure puzzle, and an important piece. Without an Agent on a host, you cannot use Grid Control to manage that host or its services and applications.
