17. Exadata Tools and Utilities
The Oracle Exadata Database Machine is converged hardware built upon standard commodity components but with a lot of customization engineered into the solution. Exadata uses Oracle Enterprise Linux on commodity Sun hardware using Intel x86 64-bit processors, using Oracle Grid Infrastructure for clustering, and running the standard Oracle Database software (Enterprise Edition). Not having any proprietary OS or software makes the transition that much easier, reducing the amount of proprietary command sets the administrator needs to be aware of and understand.
