Wow, this was fun — NOT! After trying to figure out the whole Oracle Java thing, it is finally starting to come together. There are so many (Java) options available that it was confusing to me — I think rightfully so! To move from my Oracle world of the PL/SQL cartridge into the Oracle world of Java, I figured that Java stored procedures were the way to go. I was wrong.

Why are Java stored procedures wrong for what I hoped to accomplish? Java stored procedures run on the database server, not the application server — just like a PL/SQL procedure runs on the database server.
