I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Wow, this was fun — NOT! After trying to figure out the whole Oracle Java thing, it is finally starting to come together. There are so many (Java) options available that it was confusing to me — I think rightfully so! To move from my Oracle world of the PL/SQL cartridge into the Oracle world of Java, I figured that Java stored procedures were the way to go. I was wrong.
Why are Java stored procedures wrong for what I hoped to accomplish? Java stored procedures run on the database server, not the application server — just like a PL/SQL procedure runs on the database server. I did not really think about this until I put all the pieces together — you get the benefit of realizing it ...
