Kicking and screaming. That’s what most Oracle Forms and PL/SQL developers feel like doing when told they need to convert their skills to Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE). We don’t mean to imply that long-time Oracle Forms and PL/SQL developers like us are an immature lot—only that J2EE is so new and, seemingly, so complex that traditional Oracle developers fear a severe loss in productivity, a painful learning curve, and an ensuing failure of their first J2EE project. These are valid concerns, and addressing these concerns was the main motivation for writing this book.
