In a few short years virtualization has evolved from being an interesting way to build and use test machines to a standard way of doing business in the data center. Virtualization as we know it today was introduced in 1998, and since then, it has undergone many improvements and revisions. Oracle VM, which is based on the Xen Hypervisor, was introduced at the Oracle OpenWorld conference in 2007.
