Installing the VM Manager is not a difficult process. Once the system has been properly configured for the installation, the installation itself is fairly straightforward. Only when you get to the stage where you are configuring Oracle VM does the complexity begin.

Oracle recommends a minimal (default) Linux installation be used to install the Oracle VM Manager. Install Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) or Red Hat Enterprise Linux with the default packages.
