Web application design is really a fusion of two areas: Web design and application design. These areas have overlapped as applications have been created for the Web.
Application design refers to mapping out how an application will look and how users can accomplish tasks with it. The unit of a computer application is a screen. Designing an application means identifying each screen that is needed, the elements that comprise each screen, and the functionality of each screen.
