PURPOSE OF THE CHAPTER

Human beings are social animals. We are almost always affected by the presence of other people. We go to great lengths to create a relationship with others and modify our behaviour merely because of the presence of other people. Interpersonal relationship is basic to human nature, and so, that it has a dominant effect in the workplace, is no surprise. It forms the foundation on which effective groups, teams and networks are built. The purpose of this chapter is to lay that foundation.
