The Organization Development Process
This chapter describes the process of change in OD. More specifically, it:
• explains the difference between internal and external OD consultants
• describes the step-by-step process of change.
Internal Versus External OD Consultants
Chapter 2 introduced several different models for change. Although there are some differences, all change processes go through the following six steps (see Figure 3-1):
1. entering and contracting
2. diagnosing and providing feedback
3. designing interventions
4. implementing
5. evaluating
6. institutionalizing or separating.
