The Future of Organization Development
This chapter discusses future trends in OD, including:
• work trends
• self-directed teams
• self-managed teams
• whole systems transformational change
• globalization.
Although no one can predict the future, we can speculate, make reasonable assumptions, and most of all make informed assessments about the future. Should we look at the past to predict the future? Yes, we should. Predictions are commonplace in the stock market and real estate, but they should be just as common in OD, which can be as volatile, with people moving from one organization to the other for many reasons.
