“OOH, THAT’S INTERESTING”
Social tools are made up of networks of individuals taking an interest in what is happening around them. Finding patterns in what they have each found interesting enough to take the time to sit down and write about. It is the first time we have been able to experience the phenomenon of a collective “ooh that’s interesting”.
Let’s start small. Let’s start with you and your blog. When you have a blog you notice more. You find yourself thinking “Oooh that is interesting – I might write about that.” When you are out and about doing your job or living your life you start to think about what things might be worth writing about and why. Why might I want to write about this thing I have just done or interesting event I have just seen? What would I say about it? What would people’s reactions be when I write about it? What do I want their reactions to be? You start to be much more perceptive and thoughtful about what is happening to you and around you.
What is interesting enough to expend the effort required to sit down and write a blog post for fifteen minutes? What grabbed your attention enough? What was interesting enough that you didn’t want to forget it? Is what you have just found interesting significant? Does it merit changing your mind about something or modifying the way you do things? If it is then you will want to write about it and say why it was so interesting.
So you store up all these thoughts and ideas and, when you are ready, sit down to write ...
