15. An OSPF Simulator
The OSPF simulator ospfd_sim allows you to simulate an entire OSPF network on a single workstation, running either Linux or Windows 95. Because the simulated routers are running copies of the ospfd software, the simulator is a very useful tool for debugging ospfd software problems and for testing extensions to the ospfd software when you don’t have enough real OSPF routers to test with. The simulator can also be used to validate OSPF configurations: After inputting your network design into the simulator, you can verify that all routers have complete routing tables, examine their databases for synchronization and size, evaluate failure scenarios, and so on.
