National Survey

IN ADDITION TO the in-depth interviews, we conducted a random survey of 1,461 African-American and white women managers. The sample included women graduates of five M.B.A. programs and two professional women’s associations. In addition, each woman we interviewed also completed a survey. A total of 825 surveys were returned for a response rate of 56 percent. The final number of usable surveys we received totaled 290 African-American women and 535 white women managers.
